We arrived in Manchester, New Hampshire late at night on Saturday, October 13th after a lot of flight issues which caused us to be over 4 hours late arriving. It took us nearly an hour and a half to get to the Resort by Lake Winnepasaque but it was well worth it. The two bedroom unit was a cabin style with a Kitchen and the view was spectacular over the valley below. We rested on Sunday and got a little familiar with the area. The restaurant atmosphere and the food at the Resort was a first class. The Restaurant also had a view that looked over some of the Lake area.
Jarick and Daryl drove up on Monday from Boston to spend the day with us on Monday. We drove down many back road highways into Vermont and spent the day sight seeing. The trees had just changed for Fall and we were amazed at the vibrant colors of the landscape of both New Hampshire and Vermont. We went to a Farm area that let you try different cheese and product samples prior to purchasing. It worked and we bought many different little goodies to eat. Then we traveled along more of the country side away from the Freeway. It was so breathtaking at times it is hard to put into words.
Daryl had to go back to Boston so Jarick stayed with us the remainder of the week. It was fun to drive the back highways and visit places like Sharon, Vermont the birthplace of the prophet Joseph Smith and to be able to view and handle at Dartmouth College, a copy of the first printing of the Book of Mormon. We went to many fine eating establishments while there and just enjoyed a wonderful time together. We don't get to spend a lot of time with Jarick since he has moved back East to Boston and so Cindy and I just really enjoyed our 1,500 miles of driving to various areas throughout New Hampshire and Vermont.
The weather was wonderful and didn't rain until Friday when we went to Boston to visit Jarick's apartment in Cambridge. The main River runs just across the street and several of the Ivy League colleges were preparing for a race on Saturday. It was great to watch them practice. We went to the Cape Cod area in the afternoon and Daryl knew a secluded Beach there that we were almost the only ones there. The day was just picture perfect, good company and great places to see. We went to Plymouth Rock and had lunch overlooking the actual Plymouth Rock and did some sight seeing. It didn't start raining until the afternoon but then it came down in torrents. We had dinner at Jarick's apartment then headed back to New Hampshire. Jarick drove back up with us and reluctantly checked out on Saturday morning. We drove down just South of the Manchester Airport and some friends of Jarick and Daryl meant us there to pick apples at a orchard. It was great and we were able to meet some of his Boston friends.
We went from there to the airport and flew back to Las Vegas. Cami, Parker, JaKelle and Chelsi came and picked us up at the airport. We had a great lunch and headed home. It was a storybook trip and one that both Cindy and I said that we would do again in a minute.
